Vantaggi
Salaries are reasonable The company is growing Stable employment Reasonable work life balance, depending upon your specific circumstances Core Values tend to protect admin side of the house from aggressive client staff Remote working/work from home (if that's your thing; otherwise, could be a downside since it's required...not optional)
Svantaggi
Daily treatment and promotions based upon popularity and being submissive. This promotion of those with little job/managerial skills drives the following observations: Any job feedback is likely to be inaccurate or grossly inconsistent 360 degree process is meaningless after your supervisor gets through overriding input that he/she does not want to have documented (good or bad) Supervisory levels are not empowered to make supervisory decisions...lots of "man behind the curtain" string pulling...this includes denying promotions based upon lies, with no opportunity for you to address the issues with the source. Speaking up for yourself is NOT viewed favorably If you are not one of the in crowd, your good work will be attributed to the more popular kids by management If you are perceived as making an error and you are not one of the favored children, your career is over...don't even try to set the record straight As often as not, those with real job skills that benefit their supervisors are never promoted, as their bosses benefit from taking credit for their work..you are a useful idiot Being proactive and competent also means that you are also the only one who is held accountable Now that the firm is publicly traded, there are real requirements for output. After years of social promotion, there are few there who can produce the required quality results. Look out for the good guys getting thrown under the bus through this transition. In summary, think about the most superficial, tightest clique you encountered in high school. Now imagine that those people are the teachers who determine your grades. You get the picture.
