Excellent people. Have made some strong friendships here. When you get a great project team, it's a euphoric experience for everyone involved. There are a large handful of go-getter account directors and other leaders who make life absolutely wonderful for the people around them. Surprisingly robust culture for all-remote. Results-focused leadership and culture of everybody leads/everybody sells/everybody builds/everyone's door is open. There's a lot of autonomy--if you need to work creative hours or from non-US time zones, it's easy to do here as long as you work around meetings. Early adoption of remote work has made this company very confident in its processes, for good reason. Management has bragged about employees working full-time from vacation-like settings (RVs, European holiday destinations, a boat once?) and it totally happens. Company has retained its focus on progressive values and social responsibility, even in the current environment, thanks to principled leadership. Healthcare is provided for part-timers (20h). I think layoffs have been pretty minimal relative to our size, despite some severe business headwinds in 2023. (Probably because they try to keep people costs low...see cons.)

PAY: Merit increases are very limited (1-3% annual) with no COLAs, so it's recommended (and common) to leave and come back. If you joined before, say, 2022, your pay has probably badly stagnated unless you got a promotion. The hourly/contract work can be extremely frustrating and unstable for non-consultant individual contributors--if you're spread across many projects rather than 1-2, your work can evaporate overnight, even if you're capable. PERFORMANCE: Deeply unserious about performance reviews (and really, people management as a whole) as a firm. If you're a bit crap as an IC, you'll just gradually bleed work until you quit. If you manage people or accounts...over the last two years, a small handful of hires have proven extremely unreliable, the worst of these being a couple of account directors and engagement managers who are absolutely clueless. There is no way to give upwards feedback in a systematic way to help these people improve or leave, and they are costing us business. Finally, the company isn't very racially diverse. (Relative to consulting as a whole? Who can say...)
