Code2040 has a very important mission, and the org has impacted lots of students and tech professionals and companies. Code2040 has dedicated, committed leadership open to hearing employee feedback and making changes -- but not at the expense of stewarding resources and achieving the mission. Code2040 grew too fast and made some bad-fit hires who tarnished the culture, including at the executive level. The exec and senior team hired folks who were not equipped to function in the org at the phase of development it was in and did not provide enough training to them. This further degraded the culture. Leadership transition in Jan 2018 (new CEO Karla M) opened the door for the public resentment seen here when employees who were not committed to the org's future direction separated from the org (voluntarily and involuntarily) in July.
