Vantaggi
If you like building new things, finding new uses for data, making people healthier while also making money- there is so much opportunity here. It isn't being _realized_, but you can look and see what _could_ happen with proper leadership. If you are a senior leader who is willing to keep mouth shut about screamingly obvious poor decisions- your bonuses will be awesome. A lot of money moves through this organization.
Svantaggi
Just like the evolution of MedStat then Truven then IBM Watson, senior leadership are all old women (look it up, that is a fact at the time of this writing, not opinion) who are more interested in blame than building something new , nurturing it, and letting it grow and thrive independently. Recent example: spending over 6B (about 5x annual earnings, so that's typical) on a health care company that has 2B in annual revenue but LOSES 500 million annually. Solution- built out 50 new clinics for that clunker, we lose a lot on every clinic but we make it up in volume, right?? And massive layoffs of the folks who know what they are doing to help pay for this poor series of decisions. Not a good time to be a male in this organization, either.
