There is very little focus on merit-based promotions or rewards, and simply showing up every day seems to be the key to ensuring your success.

Bureaucracy: Organizational change happening at a snail's pace, very little communication among management, incompetence at senior management levels, etc. Simply put, seeing the incompetence, inefficiency and waste is frustrating in any industry, but when dealing with international development, such problems translate into lives lost and lower standards of living. This is very hard to sit back and idly watch.
