The performance management process is from 1986 and pits people against each other. Every 6 months there is a requirement that 8 to 15% of associates fall into the bottom. Your manager has to go into a verbal cage match twice a year and compare you to others at your level. If they ate their Wheaties that day maybe you will get the rating you really deserve. Basically walking on water is the minimum acceptable standard I have never received a below strong rating so I am not saying this as a disgruntled low performer. Many associates have left due to the stress of this outdated process. Then there are the layoffs. Some are larger and public some are smaller and kept on the down low.
