Merit is based on optics, which cultivates a culture of competitiveness and political manoeuvring. Senior leadership are all obsessed with implementing their own new strategy every few months, or each time a new leader starts in a role. This means there is no business continuity and people are more concerned about immortalising themselves than working with teams' existing tools and culture to improve the business. There are many product teams duplicating the same work and leadership are aware of this but they let it happen without concern for the impact this has on the individuals in these teams. Terrible work-life balance. Exec team doesn't listen to employee feedback. Line managers are more concerned with strategising and making themselves look good than actually managing the people that report in to them.
