They gave you free Chefman products, but I threw all of it out

Just know that at any point, you can be discarded like a piece of trash. There were many thoughts in my head from the very beginning that I didn't like because of things that I personally experienced or saw, but in the end I really enjoyed the group I worked and dealt with. However, when it came down to it, I saw the callous nature of this company. Towards the end of 2023 (October), the company laid off a good portion of their workforce. That happens of course, but how they did it shows how ridiculous they are. The people finished their work day, at sometime during that evening they received a heartless email to their personal emails informing them that their employment was being terminated effective immediately. The company did not say anything in advance of this or even hinted that there was an issue. They made their excuses as to why that happened and moved on like "business as usual" Some people did not even realize that their positions were terminated (because they didn't see their personal email) and imagine their surprise when trying to log on for work the next morning. Also, imagine the managers of those people not even knowing they were losing their people. Only a few people (at the top) knew this was happening. Cut to 2025 they did the layoffs again. You were locked out of the system first (slack etc..) before even knowing what was happening. This time people received a call afterwards and cited the "Tariffs" as the reason. It was a knee jerk reaction since Tariffs were JUST announced. It's amazing however, how quickly they had their list together of people to get rid of. All signs of this company are out of my house.

When tariffs impacted our business, we were faced with very challenging choices necessary to ensure Chefman’s long-term viability. During these layoffs, we made every effort to notify impacted individuals directly and with compassion. We prioritized meeting with those affected face to face to explain the circumstances, answer questions, and offer support during the transition. While these decisions were driven by business necessity, our goal has always been to approach them with humanity and respect. My experience with this company was challenging and ultimately not conducive to long-term career growth. The organization struggled with consistent leadership and clear direction, resulting in high employee turnover. Frequent layoffs became a regular occurrence, contributing to an unstable and uncertain work environment. In recent months, employee flexibility was reduced, including the removal of remote work options and stricter enforcement of shortened lunch breaks. Communication from upper management was often lacking, and there appeared to be limited transparency or empathy in decision-making processes. The workplace culture was difficult, with noticeable issues related to work-life balance and employee morale. Advancement opportunities were minimal, with infrequent raises, bonuses, or internal promotions. Overall, the environment did not foster professional development or a supportive experience for employees.
