Even with the recent downturn and layoffs there are some very strong people at Citi Cards. There is a great knowledge base to tap into across the company.

Too heavily matrixed, too siloed. Not nearly enough focus on customer needs and insights to shape business strategy. Very redundant, overlapped organizational structure. Need to make it easier to facilitate knowledge sharing. So much organizational upheaval that it's hard to get momentum going on major initiatives.

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
