There was a prevalent culture of passive aggression. No one brought up issues directly with the person responsible. Lots of gossip. It got tiring. Also, and I suppose this would depend on the supervisor, but I personally found that taking time off was frowned upon, even if it was for something essential (going to the doctor, dentist, bereavement leave, etc.). My supervisor specifically had a very passive aggressive managing style. This person’s refusal to take responsibility for their errors and miscommunications made my job extremely difficult. There was also a strong resistance to change amongst the senior management team. Even if a system was badly broken, new solutions were always met with no, no, no.
