      I have worked at agencies for over 10 years -- Code and Theory is by far the worst experience in my career. The micromanagement, chaos, and extreme toxic culture caused by senior leadership makes it very difficult to work here.

Your experience can also vary significantly depending on leadership, as having a strong manager makes a tremendous difference, while ineffective management can make it easier to feel overlooked.
