The evaluation process is not clear. The local managers don´t know the performed tasks, so they don´t consider the client manager´s appraisal. They value worthless online courses and very subjective matters instead of performance, and they won´t explain about it. The salary seriously deteriorates with inflation. Unhappy employees stop believing in the company culture. The good projects are given to associates that come from India and not to locals. In my area, locals were very few. You could spend a year in "bench", that is with no project assigned. You are forced to take a project assignment outside of your competences, and without KT. You are not well treated by manager and sometimes by colleagues. The services given are low-key, with little added value. These are not technology solutions, we do testing, support, maintenance programming. A good company creates solutions, develops software, becomes necessary to clients.

Cognizant can be a great place to work at. You have to be self-motivated and driven. You won't often be given a script on how to do your job well. But if you are willing to search for new opportunities, you will find success.

Just like many other tech companies, layoffs are happening all the time. This often brings many projects to a complete halt. Management never communicates when someone is laid off. And when they are laid off, they often never back fill positions, leaving existing team members working the equivalent of three jobs at once. Most teams there are skeleton crews, ensuring that they cannot reach their full potential.
