      Vantaggi

      Constellation/BGE encourage creativity and diversity. The employees and leadership are demonstrate the core values. Safety and customer satisfaction are critical, but are not achieved on the backs of the linemen. There are many opportunities. I left to explore other opportunities, but would return in a heart beat.

      Constellation has faced some financial challenges, but weathered the storms well. It is a customer service industry which the general public doesn't always understand or appreciate. If you work for BGE, expect some impact to your work-life balance during storms and other emergent events.

      Coworkers are all intelligent and overall good people to spend 12hrs a day with.

      The department is perpetually understaffed. You’ll never actually work an 8hr shift, because no one is dumb enough to vote for that schedule. There’s not enough operators to fill the schedule without being forced all the time for 16hr shifts. Be prepared to be forced for OT on a regular basis even with a 12hr schedule. If your family is important, then this probably is not a good long-term plan. You’re going to miss sports, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc. You live at work and home is a place you sleep. The company might advertise company holidays, but that just means you get paid a little more for being here on those days.
