Svantaggi
Horrible rules to employees during training. Unrealistic metrics, micromanaged for every little thing, no consideration for family related issues or anything that can make them miss a day due to an unforeseen event.. They FIRED a guy that I went through training with, that became a full time employee because his supervisor claims he heard him "curse under his breath" while walking away after being scolded about metrics. They FIRED a woman for having her telephone on mute that was put there by a supervisor that was coaching her trying to help her out, when she was a trainee. She totally forgot the phone was on mute and was trying to answer calls ,meanwhile the customers on the other end of the phone couldn't hear her. Mind you this happened the last 10 or so minutes of her workday! They fired her by a phone call she got when she arrived home. So unprofessional! Consumer Cellular also lies to it's perspective employees when they use an employment agency to get hired. They claim that they will pay FULL medical and dental benefits, however once you are in training they tell you there's a 30% deductible and they also advise you to walk 15 or so miles to get your medical benefits lowered. They track it through your smartwatch if you choose to do so. One woman quit her last job to work for Consumer Cellular specifically for the medical plan only to find out it was the same plan an deductible she had on her previous job. By the way, she was FIRED too, their reason was she was a trainee and couldn't miss not ONE DAY of work during 7 WEEKS of TRAINING. Her daughter had an important surgery scheduled during one day of those 7 weeks. She went to be at her daughter's side during an early morning surgery that ran longer than expected, she didn't want to leave her daughter while the procedure was going on and called Consumer Cellular to let them know she wouldn't make it to work on time but would be in late. So they FIRED her over the phone by saying, "ok, then don't come back". There was another guy that got his days mixed up when his classroom training was finished and he was going to start working on the floor taking calls. He came back to work the wrong day, as soon as he punched in at his computer they FIRED him and escorted him out of the building. As for me, I QUIT! After seeing all the unfair policies that went on in that place I chose to find another job. One final comment, Consumer Cellular is always hiring and giving people that put up with their business practices promotions to entice them to stay. That in itself shows that the company is a revolving door type of business where all go in but most come out. One more thing, Consumer Cellular wanted us to lie and withhold information concerning if a new customer opens a plan and brings their own phone. They didn't want us to tell the customer that some features they had with their previous cell phone service provided might not work with their phone on our system. I felt so bad having to lie to people that were thinking of signing up and making the switch to Consumer Cellular knowing it was highly likely they would loose features on their handset they depended on. They also have you doing 4 or 5 jobs at once, YOU are customer service, YOU are the smartphone technician, YOU handle billing issues, YOU are sales/opening new accounts, YOU are also required to up sell customers as well. Other cell phone companies such as Verizon all have separate departments where if you worked in customer service that is all you did. If you worked as a TSS (Technical Support Specialist) that is all you did AND you get paid more than a customer service rep. At Consumer Cellular, they want you to do it ALL and get paid a flat rate of $15 per hour and that is if you make it through 7 weeks of training. I would not advise working here unless you are about to be thrown out of your apartment due to not having rent money and this place is the last resort.
