Vantaggi
- I worked with great people and we made the best time out of a bad situation. - Short commute.
Svantaggi
- Pay is ridiculously low when compared to other companies, no bonus or rewards structure. If they give you a 'bonus' of some sort you are sworn to secrecy so no one else finds out. - People in higher positions eg Buyers and Directors are rude, underappreciative and get away with countless situations when they bully staff and ruin their mental health. I know numerous people who have taken legal action and the bullies are still employed and in high paid and management positions. - You are expected to go above and beyond yet have no rewards for working late constantly or picking up emails on the weekend. - To receive a promotion you are re-interviewed for the position. This shows lack of respect for staff and how little DCK truly value their staff members. It is a way for the company to never promote within. -There was always money for big 'projects' or new business ideas. Directors seem to have no idea what is going on, numerous business ideas have been launched and failed due to lack of direction, experience and execution by senior management. -COVID was badly managed. We were essentially bullied into signing new contracts that are 0 hour, meaning they can reduce your pay and hours anytime. Redundancies and prolonged periods of furlough pay. The company were not prepared to work from home at all and did not provide any equipment and was asked to go into the office numerous times when the order from the gov was to stay at home. -People are put in senior positions due to friendship or family, instead of experience and skills. This has lead to poor business decisions and unclear management style and what I can imagine a LOT of money wasted. -HR seem to not care, either that or they have no power and are ignored. -They are willing to recruit people from external companies and pay up to £10k more over employees who deserve promotion and have been at the company for years. -NO progression. Meetings are held be senior management to discuss their teams progression , this is used as a b*tching session and very few people are internally promoted unless you suck up to management and play the game, -Since leaving DCK everyone I have encountered in the retail industry seems to know the company only for how badly their staff are treated and high staff turnover rates, -Towards the end of my time here, it became very clear DCK are struggling financially even though they try to hide this from their employees everyone is very aware. AVOID this company at all costs. Now working for a company that truly values their staff through pay, work perks, mental health concern and work life balance I would STRONGLY advise anyone to turn down a job offer here. The company seem desperate to hire people as they are very understaffed due to everyone having enough and leaving.
