Majority of employees are "account representatives" which means debt collectors. Because industry is so highly regulated, account reps are micro-managed. No internet access at desk. No external phone access. Managers regularly listening in on your calls and scanning your emails. Hourly wage is usually around $13 an hour unless you hit your monthly collections quota. Then there is opportunity for bonus (up to about $500 max), but since it's considered a bonus it gets taxed at 40%. Account reps don't get exposure to leadership opportunities or openings to move out of collections. The path is to become a lead collector than manager of collections. Or sometimes there is an opportunity for clerical work that still pays same low wage. Employees who are not clerical workers or debt collectors seem very happy there and have ample opportunity for career development and upward movement. Their retention rate is high.
