Vantaggi
DISH is on the cutting edge of the pay TV industry and holds a strong, pro customer stance. The work environment is always dynamic and interesting projects are around for very high-initiative employees. DISH views its various internal entities as independent start-ups, allowing for some risky and creative problem solving and the chance to show your chops if you happen to be entrepreneurially minded.
Svantaggi
Management cares very little about employees below the director level. This manifests itself in an unclear and frustrating career path, laughable benefits, salaries well below the local average, and secretive management philosophies meant to protect them from the brunt of blame if projects go awry. There is very little guidance, learning, or mentorship for employees, so you will not find much success unless you come to a position here with more than enough knowledge to deliver from day one. The attrition rate among even corporate employees is very high, so DISH tends to hire younger candidates, both in expectation that their stint with the company will be less than one year, and in order to keep salaries as low as possible. The above factors lead to a sometimes petty culture of passing the buck or hiding key information from possible in-house competition.
