I found that there is a lot of freedom in the work environment at DXP. As long as you have an executable plan that will bring money to the bottom line, they will support you. The unofficial motto is that employees have freedom within a structure to operate. The structure is pretty wide open with the exception of few hard and fast rules (certain inventory rules), but even those are operationally necessary. Working at DXP was very fulfilling because I wasn't micro-managed and was rewarded for my successes.

Another motto at DXP is if you're going to be really bad, you better be really good. That means that if our outside sales people acted unprofessionally to their inside team and their sales numbers were really good, then regional management just gave them a slap on the wrist. We lost some good inside technical help due to the great sales and huge egos of a few sales professionals. The company derives too much of its income from the Oil & Gas market. It needs a more balanced portfolio of clientele.
