Vantaggi

Great job for knowing nothing and being lazy. You get responsibilities, and are able to tell people what to do. No matter what your expertise is, you can get away with only using 20% of your mental capacity at all times. Great job if you need the money, just starting out, or are in a transition state. This place is a great stepping stone, but not anything else.

Svantaggi

- only real way to get ahead here is to kiss major butt - gimmicky technology products - ownership makes new product decisions without real thought or data - fake data and analytics get sold to the clients - clients get sold products they dont need - you might get real clinical anxiety from working too closely with owner - everyone at this company thinks their area of expertise is technology, design, ui, ux, etc. - requirements change, but deadlines dont - account managers/project managers dont take accountability for late projects - ceo answers personal calls during meetings with employees - ceo yells - incompetence everywhere, and people doing jobs they shouldnt be doing(ie. QA manager should not do project ownership/product manager tasks) - people go on medication and get anxiety from dealing with the ceo - this company hires fast, and fires slow - at one point employees were asked to anonymously rank their fellow employees with the implication that lower ranked employees would be fired. - this company has no transparency, and people purposefully keep useful information hidden. - leadership has no decisiveness, and constantly goes back on their word. - too much decision by committee, with a committee of truly unqualified people to make decisions - this place at times claims to be a startup - its not

Vantaggi

Large collaborative dev team with lots of people to learn from, and a constant itch to push boundaries when it comes to what is possible with websites. The rate this team has grown in the last year is extremely impressive, and the caliber of talent is pretty unmatched compared to most employers I've been with in the past. The dev team is a perfect blend of "new" developers, seasoned veterans, and people who are right in the middle refining their goals. This means that there is always growing and learning to be done, but at the same time, you will never find yourself peaking out in your career here. Leadership, especially in this department, really values new ideas and new dev practices. Right now for example, the team as a whole is making a push to learn AngularJS, which is really exciting. Double exciting since we'll get to use it in more projects down the line. While turnover seems like it may be an issue in other departments, i havn't seen us lose anyone on the dev team in all my time here. Benefits wise, they really have it all. 401k, good pto, health, dental, etc. Work from home fridays too, which is great for developer types!

Svantaggi

No real cons. Like I said, turnover seems like it may be an issue on some other teams, but from what I've seen this is just because of our rapid growth. There is the occasional project that gets dragged across longer timelines than developers like, but these issues are generally solved quickly.

Vantaggi

The people are nice, and the company knows how to throw a party. The company pays a lot for medical. The building is cool, and in a great part of town.

Svantaggi

Developers are expected to work with an uninspired assembly line mentality. The company is built around a generations old, poorly architected web application. As a result you will routinely put out fires and work under 'emergency conditions'. The company employs unskilled designers who are behind the times - as a developer, you should expect to code ugly designs. Developers are routinely required to fulfill immediate client requests absent of any technical consultation or regards to scheduling. Account managers and sales lie to clients about usability and statistics. Upper management here is weak, reactionary, and volatile. Expect decisions and priorities to change minute to minute. There is no accountability, and the highly political environment breeds a culture of finger pointing. Expect to be blamed or put on the spot at some point. Employees are publicly yelled at on a regular basis. This company has a high turn over rate, and has track record of stressing employees to the point of adverse physical effects. There are too many people involved in decisions, and it makes getting things done a real challenge(red tape and bureaucracy). Management does not know how to keep talented team members satisfied - these people usually end up leaving.
