Vantaggi
- Exposure to various stakeholders in the development sector - Quick learning about different sectors
Svantaggi
- Firm has ZERO commitment to development as seen in the top leadership taking up really unethical clients like Shell and other big corporates with terrible human rights record; values simply exist for lip service, no real translation to actual work- it's basically a high-end consulting sweatshop - It is rare to have as consistently underwhelming and underperforming managers ads Dalberg Mumbai/Delhi does- If you're looking for any kind of professional development, stay away. You will only encounter an unprofessional and disrespectful culture whereby managers get rating based on how frequently they pet the Partner's dogs - Unprofessional and does not comply with any decent working norms, sick leave is monitored and limited to five days with ridiculous requirements such as producing a health certificate, working hours are not flexible (you will be fined half a day even if you come into work five minutes late on any particular day for some reason); HR is practically non-existent and acts as a school monitor rather than professional employees - Largely expat driven culture; clear bias against Indian employees in the Asia office - No clear pathways to success unless you are in the right 'camps'; working hours are terrible and managers compensate for their inadequacy by throwing the team under the bus frequently enough. - Clearly biased decision-making flows from the top- Partners cherry-pick issues and projects and people they care about and are quite hierarchical/dismissive of junior staff unless of course you have the right shade of skin and/or the right accent to roll your Rs Literally, even if you are one Dalberg offer away from saving yourself from death, don't take the offer. Find a place that values and nurtures you, not one that exists to scavenge on you,
