I've had the opportunity to work with hundreds of the smartest people you can imagine from government organizations in the US and Canada.

Pay is meh and the work is inconsistent

Autonomy, interesting work, learning new things encouraged, smart and helpful colleagues at least until recently.

Once it was taken over by new management things were promised that after year of work have not been delivered. Pay raises, more learning, more help with roles never materialized. All have gone downhill and workload has increased.
