If you are considering this organization, STOP IMMEDIATELY, TURN AROUND AND RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. If you have already been tricked into joining this organization, GET OUT IMMEDIATELY. A little about myself @ Dollar Tree: joined 3.5 years ago with high hopes. Initial interview left me saying "what a disorganized organization". Yet, I took a chance and went on to the next interview. Truth told, I fell for it. I was sold on growth potential, bonus potential, all the things an upwardly mobile individual look for. The first lie to be exposed was the bonus potential. I was sold on the potential of an annual bonus of $40k. Obviously that is performanced based, so,I understand that a bonus is just that, a bonus and is not guaranteed. As soon as I am placed in position, I am told that my max bonus potential was $23k due to Geography. Would have absolutely declined the position had I been told that. Now, let's get to the important part; this is an organization that gets fat on the blood of the teams in the field. A poor operational model combined with an even weaker labor model = unacceptable store conditions, disengaged teams and poor results at store level. Unsafe stores are the norm across the organization. Whether it be unsafe due to ridiculous levels of freight being sent to stores weekly (Please check out how many OSHA fines have been issued.) or placing stores in the worst possible neighborhoods (Just google Dollar Tree and among the top links will be several stories about robbery, assault or worse...). It is an organization that will allow associates to work in stores all summer without Air Conditioning. I had three stores that were in excess of 95 degrees all summer with ZERO support from Regional or Zone leadership. This is an organization that will knowingly allow stores to be in disarray or unsafe and will do nothing to resolve until it is posted on facebook. Go ahead, search Dollar Tree on FB and see what comes up. Take a look at Dollar Tree's turnover rates: 50% at the assistant Manager level... think about that for a minute... 50% of their ASM team leaves within a year. Store Manager Turnover in excess of 25%. ONE QUARTER of the SM team leaves within a year. District Manager turnover is almost 20%. WHO LEAVES DM POSITIONS? Dollar Tree DMs, that's who. I can go on and on, but I will say this... Google Dollar Tree and see what you find. Read more reviews on Glassdoor. The story is the same every time. Better yet, walk into one. You will see pretty quickly. I feel for all the great people that are still there.

Working at Dollar Tree provided valuable hands-on leadership experience across every aspect of retail operations. I strengthened my skills in inventory management, merchandising, freight planning, staffing, customer service, compliance, and operational execution. The fast-paced environment challenged me to think quickly, prioritize effectively, and develop my team while delivering results. The relationships I built with my associates and customers were by far the most rewarding part of the job.

The workload often exceeded the labor hours provided, making it challenging to consistently meet operational expectations. Store managers were frequently expected to handle multiple responsibilities while working with lean staffing levels. Facility and equipment issues sometimes took longer than expected to resolve, and support from upper management could be inconsistent. While the job offered valuable experience, maintaining work-life balance could be difficult during peak freight and seasonal periods.
