Vantaggi

Tips, food on breaks, morning hours are actually pretty nice- you don't feel like you've spent all day at work. Actual tasks and responsibilities weren't too difficult. Most customers were pretty nice.

Svantaggi

As the place I worked at was franchised, there wasn't much corporate oversight. I was shorted overtime pay for weeks, but I didn't know who to go to in order to get that fixed, as there was never any information on anyone who ranked higher than our managers. I was originally supposed to be part time, and during the school year I averaged 15-20 hours per week, which was manageable. I only ever got about a day of training with the morning shift, and then was thrown into the night shift with no supervision, which was tough. Once I graduated, I worked the night shift part time for a while, then they increased my hours towards 20-30 a week and put me on morning shift, as some people had quit and they didn't want to hire anyone new yet. It wasn't a problem until a few weeks later, when about half the night shift left, and my hours were increased to full time, often working overtime, as much as 55-60 hours a week. They finally hired new people for morning shift, but never did hire anyone for night shift, meaning we were always understaffed and working 5-6 10 hour shifts a week. Management never responded when we asked for more help, we could never call out, no matter how necessary as there was literally no one to cover for us. That ended up being the main reason that I left.

Vantaggi

Tips can be great in the morning, and the free coffee makes for a great pick me up.

Svantaggi

Management can sometimes brush off issues when they're brought up directly, and there seems to be a severe disconnect between what the owners/franchisees want in the store and what management actually allows to happen, which can cause rifts on shift.
