Vantaggi

There’s a lot of activity here, which means there’s quite a bit of opportunity to learn different things. Since it’s a growing division there’s a lot of places where you can improve the outcome, and you have the freedom to work on a diverse range of projects.

Svantaggi

Midland is a horrible town to live in, it can’t be understated. Management for the most part doesn’t care to get to know anyone. And the level of technical expertise seems to be very low here. The salary isn’t competitive compared to other operators in the area, and the office amenities are almost non existent. For those reasons, the attrition is very high.

Vantaggi

The benefits were excellent, including medical, dental, and vision coverage. When I was hired in 2010, PTO was determined by a combination of age and tenure. By the time I left in December 2016, I had accumulated about five weeks of vacation.

Svantaggi

In 2017, upper management decided to close the Tyler, TX division, which had been operating for at least 17 years. I had planned to retire from EOG, but that decision changed everything. I was given the choice to relocate or be laid off. Because I could not afford the cost of moving, I was laid off, which had a significant negative impact on my life. It took me more than two years to find another job in the oil and gas industry in Tyler, TX.
