Vantaggi
The environment at EchoStar is fairly relaxed. I've never felt like I had anyone standing over my shoulder pressing me to do something quicker or better. It's a good place to work if you thrive under conditions where you're pretty much left alone to do your work without much feedback. A lot of coworkers complain about the benefits at EchoStar, but they aren't that bad. Also, I find I'm generally encouraged to learn new things, although you have to be proactive. EchoStar hires inexperienced engineers and technicians, so it's a good place to start your career. If you are an hourly employee, and single, you can make up for the average-to-low pay by working longer hours because EchoStar encourages over-time.
Svantaggi
EchoStar is unlikely to take the initiative to invest in you personally, so if you want something out of your job at EchoStar, you have to take command of it and be good at being a self-starter. You simply aren't going to bring home much income from this company unless you are very good at this. Morale is fairly low at EchoStar in general. You won't find many people proud of their job and happy with their work. It's not so much that the work is so bad so much as you have to be able to think through the somewhat negative atmosphere and remain positive. If you can do that, then you can enjoy your time at EchoStar. Most people are fairly easy to get along with and are willing to help, but the lack of trust between employer and employee doesn't encourage a very open and friendly environment in general. If you are conscious of it, you can do something about it.
