      Everyone I've worked with is smart, hard working, and passionate about improving dogs' lives. Almost all are also pleasant to work with and respectful.

      Even after some recent improvements to the scientist compensation scale, the pay is still below average, and there aren't a lot of opportunities for advancement as the company tends to hire externally rather than promote internally.

      Thank you for your feedback, at Embark we conduct an annual compensation review to ensure fair and competitive pay. We have made adjustments this year to salaries that were not keeping pace with market for members of the Science and other teams.       The office space is on the smaller side, but with the shift toward remote work, it’s been a smart and natural transition. The previous larger space wasn’t necessary for how the company operates now.

      The team is genuinely passionate about helping pet parents understand and care for their dogs.

      The CEO creates a toxic culture. He frequently gossips about his direct reports behind their backs and even to their more junior team members. This has created constant and significant churn among the executive team which leads to paralysis in the organization. The company is in a negative growth spiral and there is no coherent plan to correct it.
