Vantaggi

I worked with some great, knowledgeable people who were amazing resources to learn from. The benefits are good, and the campus is safe and a great place to be. A lot of opportunities to grow in your work, and even further your formal education.

Svantaggi

Adopting change is extremely slow and changes are implemented at a glacial pace. There are politics in just about every aspect of the job. Upward mobility is geared toward those with MBAs, and it very much is a boys' club. I encountered a lot of favoritism and resistance to newer, younger hires. When a need for new skills or employees arises, if an employee expresses interest in wanting to learn, usually they are ignored and outside talent is brought in instead - even if their skill set is similar. Too many chiefs in about every business unit. Some departments getting perks and privileges that not everyone else gets. Low pay.

Vantaggi

Great immediate supervisor and their boss. Made top-down communications tolerable. Great co-workers and great collaboration that lifted the entire team.

Svantaggi

(1) RIF based on tenure, not performance. HR is too powerful a department, and everyone fears it. (2) Tenure made you lazy, killed creativity, initiative, and promoted a "yes" culture. (3) During COVID layoffs, CEO pay went from $3.7 million to $15.x million, while employees endured 25% furloughs for 3 months, and management 10% reduction in pay for 6 months - explain how that is reasonable. (4) CEO declared DEI as the way forward for career mobility, and a lot of young, promising talent walked out the door, including DEI-qualified minorities. (5) I was one of those minorities.
