Patients often tell me they should have started out with an Emory doctor and they say, "When all else fails - go to Emory Healthcare!" This is a huge organization that helps patients get well. Emory is part of the foundation of Atlanta with a rich history and a world renowned reputation. I have heard this from so many patients and this is one of the great reasons to work here. I mean some of the most brilliant people in the world work here...how cool is that! I love the people who work along-side me...most of them anyway. There are tons of opportunities to grow professionally and so many paths one can take. Its a great place to work.

When I compare Emory Healthcare to other healthcare jobs i've had - in an academic medical setting (comparing apples to apples), Emory is one of the best. The only con I can mention is the culture of a relatively small handful of staff. Most staff are here for the right reason; they love to help and serve others. Some are here only for a paycheck and it shows in the way they interact with both patients and staff. The pay, well its a non-profit hospital and there are better paying jobs out there but its nothing to complain about. I make a decent living.

Leadership needs significant improvement. Promotions often appear to be based more on personal relationships than on experience, qualifications, or selecting the best candidate for the position. Leadership also fails to adequately address bullying and toxic workplace behavior, allowing it to continue unchecked. As a result, many locations feel disorganized and chaotic due to inconsistent leadership, poor communication, and a lack of accountability.
