Vantaggi
Decent hourly pay as a tech
Svantaggi
Extremely short staffed, majority of nurses do not help the techs with patient care and will let patients sit in their pee or poop until they find a tech and make them change them when they could’ve done it to begin with if they were the ones that answered the light and techs are busy with other patients. There are nurses who refuse to answer call lights and will let them go off, if you as a tech stand up for yourself to a nurse you will be reported and possibly written up. If techs call out they will not call around to see if anyone will come in for help so there will be times where times where you will be the only tech to 40 patients. Extreme lack of supplies and they supplies that are there aren’t durable. Constant policy changes, new rules almost everytime i went into my shift. Scheduler is very hard to get a hold of and rarely accepts time off or request use of PTO, also decides whether or not you get holiday pay or not and if you don’t the scheduler will claim it’s now PTO that needs to be used by a certain time and I have tried twice to use it and was denied both times; also if you have questions or concerns about your schedule she will just tell you to either go to the nursing manager or that it’s not her problem. I though my as a scheduler it’s your job to help out with anything that has to do with the schedule? I have reported at least two nurses and what I have witnessed wrong with the facility and how things are ran there numerous times and was told that it will be taken care of but never saw that changes that were promised to make it a better work environment. And I never saw those two nurses that I reported because they refuse to answer call lights and do patient care get in trouble after being reported. Techs get blamed for a lot there. Techs are overworked and tired and the help that do show up end up quitting within the first week.
