Vantaggi
-Most coworkers are helpful and knowledgeable -great having RT PT OT SLP on the floor (but they are stretched quite thin). hospitalist/intensivists/care team all are great and awesome to work with. Pretty decent staff retention there to show for it, unfortunately opposite on the floor
Svantaggi
-The icu manager is very effective at getting employees that she doesn’t like (most of them) to leave. Which is impressive considering she worked 4 days a week and at most 6 hours a day. New grads will leave as soon as their 2 yr contract is over after being devalued and mocked for those 2 long yrs for being dumb, too young, and several steps below the nurses who have “been there as long as you’ve been alive”. No wonder you need so many travelers Charge nurses get easiest assignments when work their one shift on the floor then mock you for being busy Icu management considered 7:01 as tardy, or maybe considered it tardy just long enough to push out employees they didn’t like. I had no idea management can fill me with so much dread in a job that I used to adore. The harassment was not worth it anymore. Having a manager with complete disregard for employee health/wellness/satisfaction led to staff being scared to voice anything, or even call out sick when they were not well enough to come to work because she would use every part of the policy against you with no regard for common sense or employee situation. Of course the same rules don’t apply to the old bully nurses
