Vantaggi

The best reasons to work at Express? Speaking for the internal staff only here! You will learn by fire, there’s so many opportunities to learn from at Express because week is different. You might be learning how to screen and interview applicants, write and post jobs, answering phones and speak to clients. Every employee has the opportunity to participate in the Express University courses to become certified at their job the Express way. I personally participated in multiple job fair and training events all over from Toronto to Nashville. Express is a family and they have internal competitions you can participate in to win prizes and the greatest prize of all is helping people get jobs on the daily. Also great benefits and awesome office culture with free snacks.

Svantaggi

Stressful industry that is not for everyone. You have to work with people you don’t always like sometimes. Negotiating and using basic math and logic to determine situations with associate payroll, client invoicing and contract buyouts. Putting in unpaid (salary) time outside of regular business hours to accomplish your goals. Potential weekend pager coverage which can mean getting up early. Travelling for training and conferences (not a down side to me but for some).

Vantaggi

The owner, Jessica, is fantastic as is the sales manager, Kirby. It can be a fun environment and putting people in a position to succeed is always rewarding.

Svantaggi

Employees are not held to any sort of reasonable professional standard. Where it directly impacted this role at the time was that at least 25 hours every week were spent essentially begging employees to turn in time cards rather than doing anything productive. Standards seemed pretty inconsistent at times. The company felt a little aimless. There were several conflicting plans for the future. My understanding is that in the six months after my separation, they more or less replaced the entire staff for various reasons. Maybe they got it figured out now.
