While I have concerns about work-life balance, there are also several things I appreciate about working for Extra Space Storage. The company provides strong growth opportunities and allows employees to develop their skills and advance within the organization. I also appreciate that we receive major holidays off, which gives us valuable time to spend with our families and loved ones. Another positive aspect is the level of trust given to employees. I do not feel micromanaged in my role. I am able to come to work, manage my responsibilities, and ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently. This independence helps me maintain good time management and take ownership of my work. Overall, there are positive aspects to working for the company, particularly regarding career growth, autonomy, and holiday time with family. My concerns are primarily related to PTO accrual and scheduling rather than the overall company culture.

this position provides a healthy work-life balance. In my experience, the amount of PTO we earn is very limited. There are months when we don't even accrue enough PTO for a full day off, which feels unreasonable. Additionally, our workday ends at 6:00 PM, leaving only a few hours of personal time each evening before having to prepare for the next workday. As a result, it often feels like my life revolves around work, and I struggle to maintain a balance between my job and my personal life. I've worked at multiple Extra Space locations, and I've noticed that customer traffic is often very low between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Because of this, I believe there may be opportunities to adjust operating hours or schedules. Even ending the workday at 4:30 PM would make a significant difference in employees' quality of life. My main concern is that the company promotes this role as offering work-life balance, but that has not been my experience. I would like to see improvements such as increased PTO accrual and more flexible scheduling. These changes would help employees feel more valued, improve morale, and create a healthier balance between work and personal life.

Solid schedule - 40 hours per week, not expected to be there more than that. No one looking over your shoulder constantly (unless you have a new DM, they can't seem to help it) Mostly great people to work with Local, immediate management does care and are helpful.

Very large rate increases really upset customers and that's just too bad. We are given word to tell them but it just isn't true. Putting more money in stock holder's pockets is the bottom line and it doesn't matter how much anger we have to deal with. You are absolutely expected to sell insurance to every renter. However, you must be careful because you aren't "insurance salesmen". You get a ding when you don't sell it. We are encouraged to use evasive language and rush through it so the renter thinks it's required without quite saying so. You would think this large of a corporation would have handymen available but it is so, so difficult to get the smallest repair done due to getting bids from vendors, turning them in, reminding the person you turned them in to what needs done maybe getting approval, then scheduling. By that time lights (or whatever) have been out for a month or 2. Benefits are very expensive and cover so little.
