Autonomous working environment. Good employee parking. There are many hard working employees who come to work and do their job correctly every day. Some positions have great challenges and offer an intelligent person room to grow and flex their business acumen.

No training for position. Put in cubicle and told to "learn" the job from others. Supervisor had own work load not related to my position so had little to offer when issues arose. Changes made to procedures without fully understanding ramifications. Very little discussion between affected departments. Very top down administration. Salary formula has issues. New hire is given low-ball salary but told they will get a bonus every month based on sales. This bonus could be up to 1/3 of your pay check. The bonus rarely is the amount the company says you will get. Frequently once the numbers are attained the company will change the formula used to set that bonus so it is lower. No yearly reviews, so no regular raises offered either.

The business model and lean staffing is simply unsustainable. Entry level pay, part time, little training, no commissions. Fastenal is focused on the sale rather than the customer. The wing it mentatility leaves customer service lacking. It's a roll coaster of putting one fire out after the other. They sale the position during the interview process but after your in there's empty promises with no real timelines for when the advancement is coming. Upper management seems out of touch with the day to day business. If you ask for help they simply say you have a good schedule. It's extremely disappointing that it has turned out this way because I was excited about the prospect of becoming an Account manager.
