Vantaggi
Few places I have worked where I truly felt like I was a part of a team, and I have worked in many places on many teams. GL Solutions certainly makes you feel like you are a cohesive unit. In the year I have worked with GL Solutions, I have been provided many opportunities to learn and grow my IT skillset. I'm not typically the sort of guy that plays office politics very well. I usually show up and dive into my work, not trying to make friends or butter up to the superiors. Usually this hinders my success with a company, but here I have advanced to the position I set my sights on my first week. Talent is recognized and rewarded here, instead of who you know. On that same note, poor work ethic or attitude is swiftly addressed. There is a never ending focus to improve the processes in place, and feedback is always thoroughly reviewed, regardless of where it came from. There is a big emphasis on personal growth, which is great. Maybe not for everyone, but it truly does help in communicating with your fellow peers.
Svantaggi
As with any software job, it can be stressful at times. It's a small company, so the balance between workload and workforce isn't always right. This means that the hours can be long at times, but the high volumes of work come and go. Combining government regular with software development (two independently complex things) can result in frustration. The pay is not great for the industry, although I have no context to the IT industry in central Oregon so take that with a grain of salt.
