Bias hiring practices ( who you know, not what you know), unsupportive management team whom pinpoints subordinates rather than apply constructive feedback. More critically, the enactment of questionable enrollment practices all of which contradict the mission: to meet the social, educational, and training needs of individuals in an effort to overcome barriers and fight the causes of poverty. HOPES undermines the real need for holistic, early education among low and middle income families,and furthermore, ridicules the necessary methodology to enforce a healthy and sound system for the future of our children. I.e. Enrollment should be in accordance to need and income based guidelines not the dire need to maintain a semblance towards a community that no longer substantially needs Head Start services. Plainfield is a given, Hoboken is up for debate. Hiring practices should be based on competence not preferential favor, appreciation should be a given and exponentially expressed to all the loyal staff that come in everyday in the pursuit of the companies mission. Last but definitely not least, HOPES must stop basing paramount decisions around egotistical leaders rather than the needs of the families and loyal staff; accountability, transparency and ethics are required of all non profits, organizations that cannot withstand these three virtues should be further investigated and held liable for any misconduct.
