Vantaggi
Decent benefits (Healthcare plan, pension matching, additional benefits like dental cover etc can be purchased) Colleagues were great at where I worked (Wimbledon). Very closely knitted, and had each other’s back. Good starting salary for a role that does not require any qualification. Also has an end of year review for salary appraisals and bonuses. If you are lucky enough, you can around to different interesting departments within HSBC.
Svantaggi
Absolute mockery of a management. The managers at my branch ( Wimbledon) were very incompetent, didn’t back the colleagues up and were pushing things down on the colleagues. They cut down the breaks from 1 hour to 30 minutes and eventually to 20 minutes. Whereas the other surrounding branches were getting their usual hour long breaks. We were also often forced to take 15 minutes or even 10 minute breaks because it is busy. The management promises to give back the hours or pay you for it, but the intentionally don’t keep their words. They are quite aware it would be swept under the carpet. Management makes the place a toxic work environment. Especially picking on colleagues for small errors, but never genuinely appraises them when they solve a complicated issue. No sufficient training for new colleagues. You get a training for 2 months, where 80% of the things are completely useless, and the rest 10% is some practical. You are thrown out to the front, and expect to perform miracles. Also you will be CONSTANTLY taking stick from the customer for the bank’s faults, errors and poor decisions. They take it out on the front staffs, and the management does jackstick about it.
