Vantaggi

The 4-interview interview process truly helps them bring in the best people. I have never worked with a more compassionate, empathetic, knowledgeable team. It feels like we have each other's back as we approach coaching shifts. They have excellent free benefits, a health stipend, professional development money, a free coaching certification course which are usually thousands of dollars, a 4-day work week, an hour lunch, remote work, and unlimited PTO. They make great efforts to encourage diversity and inclusivity with specialized groups. You also get a mentor when you start along with weekly meetings with your manager, team, and department.

Svantaggi

Unfortunately, what started as an exciting, thrilling experience, i.e., a start-up glow-up, turned into a living nightmare. From what I was told, things were very different from when it was just Ginger, and it seems like things grew too quickly that now it's all a discombobulated disaster enticed by money. The epitome of capitalistic exploitation secretly interweaves itself into a sacred practice(s) that this company provides. All the perks mean nothing when your health and well-being are taking a hit, and you become a hypocrite to the members you're supporting. You're encouraging members to develop self-care practices while you're in a job that makes it practically impossible to implement those things. When you do, it barely makes a dent because the stress of the job is so high, the cognitive/emotional burnout is real, and it takes more than three days to recover from that. Then you are made to feel like what you're doing isn't enough and that it's your fault when it's really the flawed system (again, capitalism society 101). The work is unethical (especially to coaching values), to say the least, given that you sometimes talk to 3-4 people simultaneously (since it's text-based), 1-2 on a good day, but I don't know how often that is. The best way to describe it is like working in a mental health emergency department. I was seeing some reviews that stated that there was a lot of micro-managing, and while a part of that I sense may be the particular leadership involved or team leader, I believe that it is also because it's a tech-based mental health company and that's how they ensure that things are running smoothly. However, it doesn't mean that that makes it comfortable - because it doesn't and adds to the pressure of the work. One would never have that level of supervision and management in person. Speaking of management, I sense they are also incredibly burnt out from drinking the Kool-Aid, and that is impacting their managerial styles, leaning into micro-managing and gaslighting behaviors (which is yikes for a coaching team). Ultimately, there's more I can say, but it comes down to it's all smoke and mirrors, sadly. They toot the horn for transparency, but given the layoffs, I would have to call BS on that.

Vantaggi

-they offer great resources for members to utilize -continued education to sharpen your coaching skills

Svantaggi

-there have been so many changes and expectations that are frustrating to navigate -they expect way too much for so little pay and no benefits -this role is so taxing on your own mental health... many of the members that you see aren't a good fit for coaching, so you're also filtering a lot of members for therapy and navigate really heavy mental health conversations that aren't within the scope of coaching -feedback isn't delivered live, it's all put in a spreadsheet that's clearly input by automation
