Due to the state of the world, and the concessions mentioned in the pros, we are understaffed and overworked. Everyone is stressed and it does come out in middle management as it rolls down hill.
As at least one other person has said it's disheartening to see employees put on performance review after performance review and then do the bare minimum to not get fired. The rest of us then have to pick up the slack. Those people get their hands held and those of us who are good performers, while well compensated, get somewhat ignored because they know we'll still come in and get the job done.
Yes, I realize these 2 ideas are somewhat contradictory but the second does add to the stress of the first.
