Long-standing friendships and family ties in leadership create an inner circle that’s almost impossible to break into, no matter how hard you work. Pay doesn’t reflect effort, and any talk of career development is just for show. They’ll promise you the world during the hiring process, but once you’re in, it’s clear those promises were never serious.
