Vantaggi
The full time pay is really nice. Having Sundays off most of the year is a plus but that's about it.
Svantaggi
Being a department head you're expected to do certain things in your area, with absolutely NO time to do it. The only thing that matters to our managers is seasonal items like Christmas etc. Then when your district manager comes in and is upset that your department isn't up to par, your manager chews you out. Then there's the stock tests. Once a month your DM comes in to check 100 SKUs in the store to see if you have it. If you don't have that specific item in stock, it's the end of the world. It doesn't matter that it means that customers are buying the product, therefore helping sales! It becomes your fault because you're doing something wrong because we're supposed to have everything in stock at any given moment. Then you get a write up for it too. Completely back asswards. Your hours are always getting cut below the company minimum for full time. So much for a guaranteed 35 hours a week as the policy states. Also when you call in sick, your manager doesn't use your PPTO/sick leave. He uses your vacation! So if you're out of vacation, you don't get to take time off, because he doesn't let you use PPTO either! What's the point in PPTO existing? Also the way their payroll is set up is bs. There's no separate account for vacation so it comes out of our weekly payroll. So the weeks people take vacation are awfully short handed because we're paying someone 40 hours who's not even working in the store. Also the registers are archaic and they just updated them a year ago. No scanners. No system of any kind. You're expected to know all the sales every week, and what department every item is in. Needless to say the past almost 4 years of my time here have been exhausting and entirely too stressful for a retail job.
