Vantaggi

I no longer have to work for them after May! (see Cons) Co-workers are great and knowledgeable, everyone looks out for everyone. Soon to be sold to a larger company as the mass exodus by key employees in the know.

Svantaggi

I am resigning in May 2016, After 8 solid and productive years I still struggle to make a decent Salary, Even with a 4 year degree in computers. All my annual reviews have been outstanding, but come raise time none of that matters, My manager always finds a issue. But he doesn't give the annual reviews and its always a one sided conversation. Take it or leave it.. Hyland spends millions every year on marketing the company as the best place to work on the planet, even having an entire department to tell you how great it is to work for us. Hyland's main culture is "We are the best place to work for" " Employees are our family", But in reality all that is not true. You have a better chance of survivability by having family members inside the company with the right last names, you will then be given a made up job position just for you and put on a fast track for a leadership position. If you were hired by a C-level employee and have zero experience, then you are an instant success in the company. You will get big raises and bonuses all the time as all managers and team leads tip-toe around employees recommended by c-level employees in fear of being reprimanded. You can do no wrong. The Hyland perks they offer are in reality not all that great, free beer once or twice a year provided for free to Hyland by a local company of course. A ice-cream truck showing up is "a lot cheaper then a raise" is the buzz word around Hyland. Over the last year or so everyone Hyland has hired in my department barely knows how to use a computer, they are not hiring people with experience in general computer operation knowledge. Either cheap labor or they are hiring "Face people" for future customer facing positions. The reason I am leaving is because after a very high profile and successful customer integration project that I was doing was finished and even with high regards from the customer and many, many weekends away from my family, I did not receive a bonus. I was asked by my manager to take on a project that I had zero experience in and required a whole new skillset that I did not have. I was promised time for education to build my skillset to take on the project and all was good. after 1 month into the project I was told I am not meeting expectations and that may be reassigned back to my original hiring position. I told him that I have not received the OK to get the required education that he promised I would get even with written proof and I was spending all my free time at home learning. The next day I was greeted by a talking head person from HR wanting me to sign a paper for some sort of insubordination conflict with my manager. I denied everything and even showed proof to prove I was not at fault and the HR person agreed. 2 days later I was asked again to sign it again with new wording included that had nothing to do with the original issue. I was railroaded without cause and now demoted. I was instantly hired by the high profile customer with a better and less expensive benefits with 18% better pay.

I am restricted on where I can hire new employees right now. There are a lot of competing priorities with similar deadlines which can be stressful, but the days go by fast.

Vantaggi

Remote or hybrid capability. Usually a flexible schedule.

Svantaggi

Constant quiet firing. They've figured out how to avoid public disclosures quite well. Every month they're whacking batches of 20~30 employees - esp. if you were in a higher pay band or part of an acquired company. There's constant leadership churn as of late - not that leadership was ever that great, but the clownshow has more makeup on the pigs now. If you were part of an acquired company, the stench of nepotism was constant. Hyland doesn't provide legitimate training or certification assistance for everyone. Their products would fail any sort of security scan by an AI tool too. If you're a customer, buyer beware.
