People who have been there a while will likely have inherited the best events to sell on. Newcomers are often dealt the short hand and given the lower quality events that are very tough to sell. Before accepting the role, be sure you look at how well attended your events were in the past and the sponsorship performance yoy. dont acceot the role without knowing what you will be selling. If its a good event, know other sales people will want it - so question that! Basic salary is below market rate. Sales training is needed because some of your events are a hard sell Expect delegate sales, you team members and other division sales people to undercut you, and steal clients from under your nose. There are no rules to stop this. Any phone numbers you save in the CRM will be called up by other people. I have seen people get fired and escorted out in the middle of the day - like the walk of shame. Absolutely awful to see.
