Vantaggi

I had enjoyed many benefits working at the IRS. Being part of the Diversity Advisory Board was just one of the extras that you can participate in to make the workplace a more tolerant environment for your coworkers. I enjoyed learning the revenue code and applying those codes to preform my duties as a tax examiner. The work is never the same so it's impossible to get bored. The training is sufficient to preform your duties, but there's always room for improvement. My front line manager is the best manager in the building, bar none!

Svantaggi

Unfortunately, the process of handling a serious violation of EEO, specicially sexual harassment, was not handled with the zero tolerance as we were thought to believe. After three long years, the harasser was put on day shift and served a three day suspension as the punitive measure. I am not the first victim, not even the third, yet he still had a job.

Vantaggi

-Got me started in my career as an auditor -thorough tax law training -many senior auditors helping you learn the profession

Svantaggi

-communication from management is not always transparent -when you are at the bottom of the ladder, you get verbal abuse from not only POA and taxpayers (understandable, given this is the IRS), but also management/OJI's. They want to look good to their bosses and will throw you under the bus if they have to in order to save themselves. Even if they gave you instructions that got you in trouble. They SHOULD be supporting you in your function as an auditor, but they'll do whatever is easiest for themselves ultimately. -on job training can be disorganized -bureaucratic culture -like many other companies, a lot of things you're expected to learn by yourself. Such as how to avoid POA delays.
