This review is really hard for me to write because I really did like my job until about the last two months. I liked most of the people and being the IT person, everyone had a relationship with me which granted me tons of hugs at the retreat. The CEO was extremely chill and friendly even though I could not email or slack him without express permission from management for some reason. Branded swag was cool.

My job title for the first year and 5 months was "Help Desk" even though that made up less than 40% of my job and my request for a new title was initially scoffed at. I was asked to store an unbelievable amount of tech in my loft without reimbursement. I was made to write policies which were never enforced and I got punished if I tried to enforce, and I had to spend a lot of time maintaining spreadsheets that were immediately obsolete. My job was complicated by those who would ask "Why do I have to update to Big Sur from High Sierra? Everything works fine" and if I sighed or rolled my eyes it was reported to HR who would compile a list of this type of grievance and eventually issue me a "Professional Improvement Plan" which basically gave everyone free reign to treat me however they want consequence-free until I quit (constructive firing). I supported 270 employees and 35 contractors by myself and was refused help. When the chip shortage started to affect supply chain, I was forced to entertain a really bad "idea" from someone with a non-technical background for a week instead of just being allowed to stockpile which eventually caused us to run out. When I offered two weeks notice, I was told no and my accounts were terminated immediately, and then a week later I was sent screenshots of a self-congratulatory thread on Slack that described the "environment being secured after the threat of (my name) was eliminated", which I found shocking considering that I never once threatened anyone or anything and they refused to hire a second IT person who I could have trained and could have offboarded me quickly and drama-free. As the sweetheart of the company I find it silly that they thought it wouldn't get back to me. Had to work 24/7 holidays included because so does everyone else in this company and they will continually break things. I had a doctors appointment once and the place almost burned to the ground. They claim to care about you and your mental health when its really just performative and they will tell you to your face that they don't care and it almost seems like they actively try to make it worse by making up excuses for others and tell you that its a part of your job. Making a hair above the company minimum soured this.

* The perks there are fantastic. Monthly get-centered days, monthly lunch-with-peeps, interesting monthly events hosted by HR, bi-annual company retreats (with karaoke and good food at all of them!), monthly MVPeep possible reward (around $1000, I think) * The people are fantastic. My coworkers, managers, IT, and HR were all fantastic. They want you to thrive and grow, but they give you the space to do your own thing without micromanaging. * The pay was good, and the raises every year were great. I got promoted without problems. * Work culture was healthy - I didn't really have to work much on weekends or overtime unless there were PagerDuty issues. Sometimes some coworkers continued work later than I did and reached out to ask questions, but they always respected if I was busy

* I think the only con I can think of is that there were two large layoff waves in the time I worked there. They paid fair severance and offered help in finding a new job through a technical recruiter, so it didn't really leave a sour taste in my mouth. There wasn't really much warning, though. * Not a big deal, but I worked mostly in a language completely different than the one I was hired for. I didn't mind much since the other perks far outweighed any cons.
