The clients are wonderful to work with.

The management and administration lack a basic willingness to communicate. Instead of asking a few questions to an employee, the answers to which would clarify any confusion or concern, they take third-hand information as truth and make decisions accordingly. They also keep dropping the starting salary of a frequently-open position, which I doubt will help with hiring and retention.

Turnover is high, but that is typical in this field. Lots of changes in middle management, specifically, because management is often overburdened with a sometimes impossible combination of leadership tasks and direct service tasks. Folks doing both direct service and leadership roles simultaneously must give over a big chunk of their lives to meet the mission and to feel like they are doing their jobs well. This is hard emotional work, sometimes physically demanding as well. The reward has to be enough for someone personally, especially at the middle management level, to be able to consistently work at least 10-15 hours of overtime weekly.
