Vantaggi
Experiencing exciting growth. Several large new clients and great opportunities to expand both in the US and abroad. Currently a great group of people split between the Portland and Minneapolis offices. Everyone seems very focused on improving our products and furthering the company's mission, which is a change from years past. Employees are given a lot of autonomy and room to grow in their roles or transition to new ones. I've been with the company several years and it's had some ups and downs with turnover, a few bad managers, and some lean sales years. Several toxic employees left the company a couple of years ago and the culture and morale have really improved since then. It's a small LLC and original employees were on a K1 tax system, which caused difficulties for some employees. Most employees are W2s now so no weird tax issues. The benefits also have improved from when I started - healthcare/dental/vision, disability, 401k with matching, transit accounts, and a good PTO plan. Due to COVID we are mostly working remotely now and it seems to be going very well. Employees can go in to the office if they choose but no pressure to do so. There were (and I'm sure will be again when offices open back up) lots of perks in the office (drinks/snacks/lunches/happy hours), even a couple of bikes for employees to ride around downtown.
Svantaggi
There is sometimes tension between dev and product, which may be natural in software companies. At times senior management can be too hands-off.
