Some good people to work with and a good intro to acute psych. Also if you have a good sense of gallows humor you might get some good stories.

-Chronically understaffed which provided unsafe scenarios -Put people who should be in a geriatric unit constantly in Picu which means you do less helping people with mental health issues and more wiping poopy butts/cleaning up poop smeared walls. -So much poop -Underpaid -People literally eating poop or throwing it on people -Underpaid -Sneaky admin staff i.e cutting overtime incentives and only telling people the day before when they've already signed up for said shifts. -Besides getting meds we didn't really help patients and on more than one occasion I think we made them worse. -Continually eroding benefits.

Through these avenues, as well as an organizational focus on retention efforts, we’re working to ensure we have the workforce we need to provide high quality care to our patients and communities. We take all feedback seriously and will share your review with our teams as we continue to move forward.

There are many mission-driven caregivers who genuinely care about patients and want to provide high-quality behavioral health support. I appreciated the opportunity to work in an area connected to telehealth, crisis response, and access to care. The work itself can be meaningful, and I believe many employees are trying to do the right thing for patients and communities.

In my experience, the department culture was not psychologically safe. Feedback and performance concerns were not handled in a way that was clear, consistent, or supportive. I left feeling that the performance process was more punitive than developmental, and I did not feel meaningfully supported by leadership or HR during a difficult employment transition. The experience affected my emotional well-being and made me much more cautious about workplace culture and management practices.
