Executive leadership of the agency is the main problem. While there is a committed Board, they are not overseeing leadership adequately. Executive leadership is more focused on self promotion than on fundraising. The agency has been suffering from financial challenges for many years resulting in multiple rounds of lay offs. Executive leadership has not led by example, not taken pay cuts, and not been transparent. Many staff are dedicated but lack adequate training and resources. While targeted program goals and measures exist, they are rarely met. Development staff have been micro-managed for years and have been forced to report inaccurate results. While all agencies put a positive spin on their program, this agency regularly report erroneous results. Staff morale is quite negative. Departments often do not cooperate with each other. Some executive leadership in the past has been abusive, yelling and cursing at staff. Only staff loyal to executive leadership are promoted.
