Vantaggi

Access to the library. 2/2 teaching load.

Svantaggi

Unstable leadership. Unprofessional colleagues. Living in repressive hellstate. State legislature constantly defunding public education. People come here to act petty and exert control through domination and rejecting change, whether pedagogical, social, and personal. Maintain status quo at all costs.

Vantaggi

- Flexible unless you call out three times without making it up, which is a rule you're never told about until you've already hit that limit in a semester. First time I hit it, was news to me especially given my pay. The way they're paying you would think that they could pull in anybody at any point. - Having an "intern" title looked good when applying to real jobs afterward. - The intern-level work I did after moving from the stockroom was pretty laid-back and actually fun, even if I was underpaid for it. Was data entry but helpful for finance. - I really enjoyed my time in the textbook office genuinely liked everyone I worked with there. I think all of my gripes with the company come from the top as this is where the decision to underpay employees comes from. - It's accessible by bus.

Svantaggi

- Starting pay was very low under even what the dining centers on campus would pay, and they give consistent raises over time. - You're only allowed to miss work three times per semester unless you make up the time. This kind of policy should be clearly explained to employees at hiring, the same way PTO rules would be. - My pay effectively went down the longer I worked there. Inflation outpaced my wage growth so much that my starting pay was worth more in real terms than what I was making when I left. Raises were hard to come by even when I asked. - They rely on the constant supply of students needing jobs, so there's little incentive to pay competitively. - I have real concerns about pay equity. One coworker was making under $10/hour, and I couldn't find any explanation for the gap other than his race which was disturbing to see, especially knowing he had to live off that paycheck like the rest of us. - The 40% employee discount looks good on paper, but given what I saw of their wholesale pricing, it feels more like a way to squeeze extra money out of employees than a real benefit. It should be closer to 50%, especially with the 25% mascot-item deal they run weekly. Honestly, I never even used my discount, I couldn't afford to shop there on what they paid me, so it wasn't really a "pro" at all. -The building is in very rough shape when I was leaving they were testing our office for high CO2 -The stockroom is really hot and it smells if you end up working down there
