Vantaggi

Work environment can be fun. Birthday celebrations and holiday celebrations.

Svantaggi

Horrible middle management. A boys club (made up of simple minds) who sit in the conference room and talk about people, mainly women. There's a big gender issue here. No career growth. You can have all the impact you want but it'll be intentionally downplayed. You're expected to operate in chaos. Client work is a thankless job. They determine whether you can take PTO based on what you're taking PTO for. Gaslighting is common.

Thank you for your feedback. We take reviews like this seriously and are always open to constructive input. However, we are somewhat confused by some of the comments made, particularly as our office has been fully remote since March 2020 and you published this review in January 2024. The timeline doesn’t align with the current work environment or culture, making it difficult to address specific in-office concerns raised. That said, we want to acknowledge the feedback regarding management and gender equity. We are committed to fostering an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive. We have several avenues to celebrate employee impact, including a weekly peer-to-peer recognition benefit as well as a specific channel in Slack dedicated to individual and team accomplishments that is regularly updated by the leadership team. As per our PTO policy, PTO is not based on the reason for the request nor is an employee obligated to give a reason for the dates requested off; our primary determining factor in time off is ensuring the timely delivery of client workload, and if there's a particularly busy production cycle then we might ask the employee to modify their dates. In our decades of operation, we have yet to outright deny any PTO request, choosing instead to partner with the employee to find a suitable time for all parties. We always strive to improve based on the feedback we receive, and while details in this review don’t fully reflect our current practices, we take any concerns seriously. If there’s more you’d like to share about your experience, we encourage you to reach out directly. We are committed to creating the best environment possible for all of our team members.

Vantaggi

I’ve seen a review saying management holds people back and only wants what the company is used to. That has not been my experience at all. On my team, I’m regularly asked to bring ideas, show multiple directions, and explain my thinking. If I have a strong reason for a choice, leadership is open to it, even if it is not the “usual” approach. This place is not rigid in the way that review describes. Things change fast, and the team adjusts. I have watched people try new approaches, test new formats, and improve process based on what is working, not based on “this is how we have always done it.” Also, I have not felt stuck or blocked from growing. I get feedback that helps me improve, and I’ve had real conversations about what leveling up looks like. People actually want you to get better here.

Svantaggi

It is still client work. That means guardrails, approvals, and tight timelines sometimes. Not every idea will get approved by clients, and sometimes you have to move quickly.

Vantaggi

The office had decent lighting and the people were not openly hostile, so at least I could physically see my work while repeatedly questioning why the compensation never reflected it.

Svantaggi

- The base pay was low from the start and was never adjusted despite expectations. - The workload kept expanding with more accounts, larger clients, and constant after hours demands without any pay increase. - Requests to adjust salary to market rate were dismissed with vague excuses about "creative industry" standards. - Experienced hires were treated and paid like entry level employees despite senior level responsibilities. - Leadership acted surprised when employees left even though turnover patterns were predictable. - Multiple strong team members resigned due to compensation issues and nothing changed afterward. - Effort and responsibility increased over time while pay remained intentionally disconnected from job scope.

We’re responding because several statements in this review are factually inaccurate and paint a picture of IRON that does not match our records, our current structure, or the experience of our team. First, IRON has not operated out of a shared office since 2020. Our team has been remote for five years, so the reference to the office lighting does not reflect how or where we currently work. The claims about compensation also do not align with our practices. We benchmark salaries against market rates, conduct annual performance reviews, and make regularly scheduled salary adjustments based on role, performance, market conditions, and business needs. We do not treat experienced hires as entry-level employees, and we do not disconnect compensation from job scope. The claim about constant turnover is also inaccurate. IRON does not have a pattern of multiple people leaving en masse due to compensation. In fact, we have an unusually long-tenured team, with many employees having been with the company for more than a decade and a median tenure of approximately twelve years. That directly contradicts the picture painted here. We are always open to feedback, and we take compensation, workload, and retention seriously. But feedback should still be grounded in fact. This review describes a version of IRON that we do not recognize. For anyone considering IRON, we encourage you to ask us directly about compensation, workload, raises, tenure, remote work, and team culture during the interview process. We’re proud of the team we have today and the people who have chosen to build here for the long term.
